Abia Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs sues for Spring of Synergy

The Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has sued for a spring of synergy among all the paraphernalia of Local Government administration in order to drive the paradigm shift for speedy development.

During an oversight visit by same 8th Abia Assembly Committee on Ukwa East, Ukwa West and Ugwunagbo Local Government Councils, the Chairman, Abia Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Chinasa Anthony hinted that the Dr Alex Otti administration in Abia State is in a hurry to reposition Abia State, following years of apparent negligence and called on Council Mayors to replicate the Otti administration’s infrastructure revolution in the Local Councils, adding that such legacies, when put in place will outlive the present occupants of the headship of the Mayoral Councils.

In her response, Dame Ngozi Nwagbara, Mayor, Ukwa East Local Government stated that funds of the Local Council has been judiciously deployed to the reconnection of the Council Headquarters to the National Grid after 10 years of disconnection, reticulation of water scheme after decades of abandonment and the clearing of Council premises which were hitherto overgrown by weeds, assuring that Ukwa East shall not lag behind in all aspects of development.

Newman Azu, Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government on his own part stated his resolve to key into the Governor Otti administration’s policy thrust is unquestionable following the level of confidence reposed in him via his selection as Mayor while Comrade Nosike Ihesiaba of Ugwunagbo said his administration has no option but to replicate the Otti example in Ugwunagbo Local Government.

Highlights of the Oversight visit was the inspection of the almost completed office blocks in Obehie Police Station and the Court building Obehie as constructed and completed by Newman Azu, Mayor, Ukwa West Local Government.

Present during the Oversight visit were the Deputy Whip, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Iheanacho Nwogu of Osisioma South State Constituency, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke of Ohafia South State Constituency who is also House Committee Chairman on Environment and Hon Lewis Obianyi, Member, Ukwa East State Constituency.
