OF PORTABLE AND THE IMAGE OF THE LEGAL PROFESSION: PERCEPTION AS EVERYTHING
It is appallingly disappointing that the Nigeria Bar Association demeaned itself, in all fairness, to invite an individual viewed by many as an obvious drug addict to ‘perform’ during it’s conference in Abuja.
Stardom, whatever that implies or not, in relation to the said artiste is a misfit and a misnomer in the gathering of decent minds and same ‘star’, however he is portrayed by those who worship him or otherwise, baboon, as he opts to call himself is an irritant and an obvious misrepresentation of even his profession.
After all, many have described him as an opportunistic gate crasher in the music industry.
One begins to wonder if the essence of good image did suddenly take flight viz a viz how the legal profession is percieved.
Many have refused to accept that say, the Actors Guild of Nigeria can opt to invite same person for any of her conventions, despite being in the same entertainment industry. He is irritable as he is disgusting.
What is, is that the legal profession in noble but people’s perception of it’s apex association via bringing on the self acclaimed baboon to an intellectually tasking and image enhancing gathering is obviously somewhat disgusting.
Are there no decent performers in the legal profession who could have been brought forward to add glitz to the function?
Falz is a lawyer and obviously more decent than someone who prefers to be identified as a wild animal!
Wither panache? Wither the image of the learned?
Whether Portable was paid by the NBA to perform or not does not follow. The clout of the Legal profession is enough to openly refuse or reject such gestures from such a character, as his presence at the venue of the convention must be seen for what it is: an obvious disappointment and a huge slight on the image of the association, including everything it represents.
May it be put to the organizers of the convention that they massively goofed and no height of damage control can salvage the battered situation.
Razzmatazz is not madness, most importantly for the information of those who want to be seen as demigods and worshippers in the temple of justice. Enough of logical unreasonableness.
Under the present leadership, NBA have finally gone to the dogs
..and some persons would defend same as rights…right to freedom of association, without regards to perception, which is everything.
They got it all wrong
